Volunteering at St Michael’s
Living to make a difference
Volunteering within church and community life is one of the most powerful and readily available ways in which we can live to make a difference.
Loads of people at St Michael’s volunteer their time and their talents in different ways.
Our wonderful Old School Rooms Coffee Shop is professionally run to high standards – but most of the staff are volunteers. They make the coffee shop a warm, welcoming place. They prepare the most delicious lattes and cappuccinos. They serve scrumptious lunches and gorgeous cakes. Not for wages. But because their skills, their time and their hard work are a gift to the community of Stoke Gifford.
If you’re interested in volunteering at the coffee shop, for just a couple of hours, or a couple of days a week, Ann would love to hear from you.
There’s always lots do running our busy programme of youth activities at St Michael’s. And we depend on a small army of CRB checked volunteers to help make that happen. If you think you have what it takes to be a part of the youthwork team, Joel would be delighted to hear from you.
Church services and celebrations
St Michael’s is a church without passengers. Everyone is a crew member. The warm welcome, the music, the readings, the audio visuals, the prayers, the moving of screens and furniture, and the serving of refreshments between services – all these things happen thanks to volunteers.
As a busy, growing church there is always a need for more pairs of hands. If you could make someone welcome, or read a passage from the bible, or hand out a notice sheet, or do anything else for that matter, the church office team would love you to get in touch.
Gardening, painting, cleaning, folding notice sheets…
The list of other odd jobs that need doing is virtually eternal. Sometimes we organise a whole working party; sometimes we just need someone who can do DIY for a couple of hours. Look out for opportunities to play your part in the life of the church and the community, or volunteer your specific skills by contacting the church office any time.
