MP and councillor visits
In the last couple of weeks Steve Webb, MP for Thornbury (and Pensions Minister), Jack Lopresti, our local MP and local councillor Brian Allinson, have been to visit. All are encouraged and excited by what we are already doing in the community and our plans for the future.
After a few (quite long!) meetings with various VAT specialists, it is now looking increasingly likely that we will be exempt from paying VAT on most of the work for the Heart of the Community project. Praise God!
The first grant applications to trusts are being finalised this week. Please pray for the various boards of trustees who will be meeting over the coming months to consider our funding applications.
Heart of the Community DVD
Rob Wicks has started work on a DVD to be used in our external fundraising. You may see him around with a camera over the next few weeks.
Bishop Mike has agreed to host our first external fundraising dinner on February 1st. Pray that as we send out the invitations, they would be well received
The key dates for starting the building work are
April 1st – we go out to tender
May 6th – all tenders received and evaluation of tenders begins
May 27th – contract placed with preferred contractor
June 3rd – contractor on site
Prayer meetings and bookmark
If you don’t have one already, then pick up a Heart of the Community prayer bookmark from the back of church.
It gives pointers for prayer, as well as the dates of the Friday morning prayer meetings
