Heart of the Community project update

Grant applications

Please pray for the various boards of trustees who will be meeting over the coming months to consider our funding applications.

Fundraising dinner

Bishop Mike has agreed to host our first external fundraising dinner on February 1st. Pray that as we send out the invitations, they would be well received

The key dates for starting the building work are:

April 1st – we go out to tender

May 6th – all tenders received and evaluation of tenders begins

May 27th – contract placed with preferred contractor

June 3rd – contractor on site

Filming to make a difference

As part of our fundraising strategy for the Heart of the Community, we are producing a set of short promotional films. They will be used on a DVD and on our internet sites to let more people know about the excellent difference the project will make for the church, the community and the region. Rob Wicks will be filming lots of aspects of life at St Michael’s. The first couple of chapters of the Heart of the Community DVD will be ready for the fundraising dinner at Bishop Mike’s house on February 1st and we hope to show them in church as soon as we can.

If anyone has a reason why they shouldn’t appear  on film please speak to Rob.  Otherwise, please just ignore the camera and enjoy playing your part in the heart of our community.  Thank you.

The Mission Action Group online

Details of the work of our Mission Action Group are now live on the new St Michael’s website. Please have a look.

Over the next few months we will start to spend the 10% additional mission tithe set aside as part of the giving towards the Heart of the Community project. We are starting by blessing some of our existing mission partners with giving towards capital projects. More information soon.

Fabric Committee

Mike Peacey is now chairman of the church fabric committee.  They will be taking a more detailed look at the refurbishment of the church building.
