St Michael’s Church has supported the groups below for many years, by giving donations.
The Julian Trust Night Shelter, also known as the Bristol Night Shelter, is located in premises on the edge of St Pauls, providing hot food for the homeless people and rough sleepers of Bristol. The Night Shelter provides 18 emergency beds for those in need and provides overnight guests with breakfast before closing at 7.30 in the morning.
Caring at Christmas
At Christmas time the Night Shelter is taken over by Caring at Christmas. The Caring at Christmas shelter provides homeless people with warm and safe accommodation in Bristol over the Christmas period. The shelter is open 24 hours a day and caters for more than 50 people
The Sisters of the Church, St Pauls
The Community of the Sisters of the Church is an international body of women within the Anglican Communion, living under the gospel values of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience, desiring to be faithful to the traditions of the Religious Life while exploring new ways of expressing them and of living community life and ministry today.
In Bristol, The Sisters’ work focusses on pastoral care in the local community, both centred on the house and through working with other agencies. At the house, this care has taken the form of both practical assistance such as giving food parcels at the door, and befriending and listening to callers and volunteers. The house at times is also used for Social Services supervised visits between parents and their children who are in care.
