Epaphras Trust works in four countries:
Kenya – partnering with an orphanage
Ukraine – facilitating bible study groups for Churches
Nepal – organising on-line bible study classes for leaders
India – supporting a bible school
Epaphras Trust has supported the work of El-Shaddai Bible School since 2010 and this year is delighted to have the partnership of St Michael’s Church with this project.
EBS was established in 1997 to provide opportunity for young Christians from the poorest areas of Northern India, to receive Bible training – free of charge. Since then many have availed themselves of this gift of love and sacrifice.
The bible school offers two and three-year residential courses covering many aspects of theology. In recent years, the curriculum has been extended to cover subjects such as English language and computer studies, which increase academic ability.
In 2019, a new building was completed, providing a dining hall, library, storerooms and student dorms. Epaphras Trust has been privileged to help stock the library with study materials and bibles. At graduation, students are presented with study books to help them in their future ministry.
Twenty of the forty-five students were unable to return to their homes at the start of lockdown, so have remained at EBS. They began the new academic year in July, still in lockdown, along with staff who had also remained. Last year’s exams and graduation have been postponed.
Advancing the Kingdom
After graduating, some students return to their villages, working in their Churches and fulfilling God’s calling on their lives. Others may go on to become evangelists or pastors but for some Church planting and nurturing new believers is their vocation, sometimes in areas where the gospel has not yet reached. This is Suniram who has planted a Church in Assam where forty families attend.
Shobha Ram Brahmne and his wife have planted a Church in Madhya Pradesh which is continuing to grow. He has also worked with other EBS graduates helping to plant Churches in the surrounding areas.
Points for Prayer:
1. For the twenty students currently at EBS, that they might feel the responsibility of good news for their generation.
2. Protection from Covid-19 during this monsoon season.
3. Wisdom, love, and unity to prevail among leaders, teachers, and staff.
