Who we are
The New Wine Discipleship Year in the South West is based at St Michael’s Church, Stoke Gifford, Bristol. We are a large, lively charismatic Anglican church in the New Wine network. We are a diverse group of people, but together we share a common vision: to be a Christian ‘heart’ at the centre of our communities. We aim to equip each other to ‘live to make a difference’. We do this with a threefold strategy of ‘Learning and Growing Together’, ‘Sharing Jesus Together’ and ‘Serving Together’.
We are situated right next to Parkway train station. The church has a large church centre, which is used for community and conference events
Discipleship Year Structure
Each week is broken down in to 8 hours of teaching, and 12-16 hours of serving in your chosen ministry area: Children’s, Youth, Schools, Worship, Outreach, Pastoral etc. Our teaching day at the South West hub will be on a Thursday.
The South West hub will be based at St Mike’s, with most placements with local churches. The rest of the time you will be able to find paid employment alongside the Discipleship Year.
Throughout the year we will spend time together worshipping, praying, listening, laughing and learning. As we go through the year there will be retreat days, residential weekends and plenty of opportunity to get stuck in and serve the wider Church.
Our Hub Leader is Rachel Rogers, and she can be contacted via the contact form, chosing “New Wine Discipleship Year” on the drop down menu.
