At St Michael’s we run a 6-week course which enables parents to explore some of the big issues we face – because children don’t arrive with an instruction manual.
The course is for any parents, step-parents, prospective parents or carers of children aged 0–10 years.
It gives us the opportunity to be honest about the joys and struggles of parenting. We look at issues such as the gift of acceptance, the testing child and defending the boundaries.
Family life is under great pressure today and parents face bewildering choices about how to parent effectively. Discovering we are not alone in the challenges we face and picking up ideas from other parents can make a huge difference. We can all learn how to make even the happiest family better.
While The Parenting Children Course is based on Christian principles, it is designed for parents with or without a Christian faith.
The course is usually run once a year, meeting one evening a week for six evenings.
The course is free. Some people choose to make a voluntary donation towards the cost of refreshments and course materials.
