Christmas Fair

This year’s Christmas Fair is on Saturday 25 November, starting at 11am. Father Christmas has the date in his diary, and the Coffee Shop will be open for yummy refreshments. Our magnificent cake stall will be returning too! We have lots of stalls with handmade gifts to browse and buy, children’s crafts and fun and games for everyone!

See you there!

We seek to promote quality local craftspeople, and aim to limit the number of duplicate stalls to ensure a good breadth of items for sale and to be fair to stallholders. Tables are £15. If you would like a table, or have any questions, please contact us for a booking form.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes 2023

Every year we take part in Operation Christmas Child – making up for shoeboxes of gifts for children worldwide. This is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project and is run by Samaritans Purse. It’s a great way to show God’s love in a tangible way to help needy children.

Click here for information on how to pack a shoebox. We will also soon have leaflets available in Church and St Michael’s Centre.

And you can also find out more on the Operation Christmas Child Website.

Tougher import regulations mean no toothpaste, chocolate or sweets as shoebox gifts. Let’s think creatively by adding other fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items that a child will love. More ideas here or download gift suggestions here.

Please drop off your boxes in church or St Michael’s Centre ready for collection by Sunday 13 November.

Gift Day for Ministry and Mission 2023

Jesus makes a difference. He gives so much to us. Will you give back to Him?

Here at St Michael’s, our giving helps so much to happen!

Together we can make a difference.

We are called to be a Christian heart at the centre of our communities.

When we give, we help God’s work to happen.

If those who currently give, could increase our giving by £5 a week, alongside fifty new givers, giving £10 a week, and twenty-five new givers giving £20 a week, our annual deficit would vanish.

Please think and pray about what you might give this year. Either as a one-off payment or a monthly standing order payment.

We invite everyone at St Michael’s to count ourselves in by giving. Our generosity helps us to Learn and Grow, Share Jesus and Serve….TOGETHER!

Day Course Saturday 4 November

Another popular day course on Mindfulness and Christian Spirituality with Revd Tim Stead

We are delighted to welcome Tim back for another Saturday workshop.

These workshops are a great opportunity to stop, reflect, learn, and develop tools that help us ‘practise the present moment’ and ‘practise the presence of God’.

We need these skills more and more in our hyper-distracted,  24/7 digital age!

Whether you are seasoned in mindfulness or want to find out more – there will be something for you in this workshop,

Intentions for the day:

– Explore how mindfulness practice can engage with and support the spiritual journey with particular reference to the Christian contemplative tradition
– Serve as a quiet day where participants go away feeling they have had space for deep reflection.
– Share ways that mindfulness could be taken forward for those who choose to.

There will be regular breaks throughout the day. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch with you.

Course leader
Tim Stead is an accredited mindfulness teacher who trained with the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. He was a Church of England vicar for 23 years and now operates as a freelance mindfulness teacher, teaching eight week courses and leading retreats and quiet days. His books, Mindfulness and Christian Spirituality and See, Love, Be – mindfulness and the spiritual life are published by SPCK. He has also published a Grove Booklet: Mindfulness and prayer. www.timsteadmindfulness.org
