The wellbeing of children in the setting is the first priority and we are committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for children who attend our setting.

Staff, Committee members, students and volunteers will all be inducted in fully understanding their role in safeguarding children and the procedures to follow if they have any concerns regarding the children’s welfare, including abuse or neglect.

Appropriate training and support will be provided but it is also the responsibility of each individual to ensure they are confident with using the Safeguarding Children Policy and to seek support if they are unclear on any point.

At St. Michael’s Church Pre-School and Nursery, we safeguard children by:

  • Complying with policies and procedures
  • Having Designated Safeguarding Leads
  • Implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Working in partnership with parents and carers
  • Working in partnership with other professionals and Agencies
  • Follow Safer Recruitment Practices
  • Seek and supply safeguarding training for all staff
  • Encourage all children to develop confidence and independence
  • Respond appropriately to suspicions of abuse
  • Ensure good record keeping

The Designated Safeguarding Leads for the Nursery are:
Stacy Ashdown (Manager)
Karen Green (Deputy Manager)
Vanessa Rennolds (Third in Charge)
