St Michael’s, Stoke Gifford is a lively, growing Anglican church on the northern edge of Bristol. We are a welcoming crowd of everyday people, living to make a difference by being a Christian heart at the centre of the community. Everyone is welcome at St Michael’s.
There are dozens of ways to connect at St Michael’s, not just within our weekly worship on Sundays. We explore, learn, share and relax together in all kinds of groups and activities, seven days a week. There are opportunities for everyone to play their part.
We are all learning at St Michael’s. Journeying together. And it’s often as we try new things that we grow fastest. That’s what discipleship is all about, and it’s central to our work through our small groups and courses, and in our commitment to prayer, care and sharing the resources we’ve been given.
Outreach plays a vital part in our life as a church. We aim to make a difference well beyond our parish boundaries. We support and work with teams that fight poverty and spread the good news of Jesus locally, nationally and around the world.
Serving the community is the heartbeat of life at St Michael’s. Our coffee shop, our meeting rooms and our professional pre-school and nursery are used by hundreds of local families, businesses, groups and individuals all year round. And the generosity of all those who volunteer is constantly bringing reality to our vision of living to make a difference.
We have 2 Alpha courses starting very soon! One on Wednesday evenings and one on Friday afternoons. Alpha is an 8 week course (plus a taster session and a day together in the middle) during which we have the opportunity to discuss all sorts of issues related to the Christian faith. There’s a topic for each session, but we can discuss anything and everything! If you’re new to faith, or just thinking about it, come and join us on Wednesday 11th January at 7pm or Friday 13th January at 1pm both in St Michael’s Centre. You are welcome just to turn up, but if you can register your interest in advance that would be helpful. You can sign up here for the evening session, or here for the daytime session. Or alternatively call Vicky on 0117 969 2486
We’ve been running the course at St Michael’s for many years, and hundreds of people have enjoyed the course here.
We meet once a week for 8 weeks, share food together, listen to a talk and then split into small groups for open, honest discussion. Alpha is a place where no subject is off limits, and no question is too silly, too difficult or too controversial.
Alpha at St Michael’s is held on Wednesday evenings with dinner. There is no charge for Alpha, but we do invite guests to make a donation towards the cost of the food and drink if they wish.
