We strongly believe that meal times are really important experiences for all children as they are learning many skills including socialising with their peers and the adults that care for them.

We provide all the children’s meals (breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and high tea). Our lunches are supplied by Early Years Catering (they provide fresh and nutritionally balanced meals and also cater for allergies and dietary needs) https://www.earlyyearscatering.co.uk/ and the other meals are managed by us on site.

If your child attends sessional Pre-School hours you will need to provide a packed lunch for them. Parents/Carers will be expected to work with and follow the Lunch Box Guidelines (please see below).

If your child is eligible to the Early Years Funding then on sessions/days that funding is applied, the meals will be included in the consumables charge.

Lunch Boxes Guidelines

At Pre-School our Food and Drink Policy encourages healthy eating.

We would encourage you to support this by carefully considering the contents of your child’s lunch box. Ideas include:

Things to consider:

  1. Lunch boxes will not be refrigerated so for your child’s protection it would be of benefit to use a clearly labelled thermal lunch box with an ice pack.
  2. Please ensure that the contents of your child’s lunch box is manageable for them. Therefore, it would be useful to support your child before they start Pre School with their independence at mealtimes.
  3. If you are including cherry tomatoes, grapes, cucumber or carrots, please ensure that these are cut length ways to reduce choking.
  4. Please note that celery is not advised as it is a hard and stringy vegetable that could get lodged in the airway.
  5. There is no need to include a drink as water will be provided and we do not allow squash or fizzy drinks.
  • PLEASE ENSURE NO NUTS OR SEEDS OR FOODS CONTAINING NUTS OR SEEDS ARE IN YOUR CHILD’S LUNCH BOX AS THESE ARE KNOW COMMON ALLERGENS.
