How is your emotional wellbeing?

Maybe you are struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, grief or stress or maybe you are supporting someone dealing with these issues…

They are all very normal emotions; so please know that you are not alone!

Why not consider joining a wellbeing programme being run by St Michael’s Church, Stoke Gifford?

It’s called Kintsugi Hope and is based on the belief that there can be treasure found in the scars of life.

Each week, in a small, safe and supportive group, we will look at subjects rarely talked about in depth such as : Honesty, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, shame and anger.

The aim of this shared journey is to gain support, understanding and tools that will enable us to become more resilient.

Kintsugi groups are suitable both for people of faith and for those with none.

Please email Abbie if you have any questions

Who is it For?

The stress and demands of modern living can take their toll on our mental health and wellbeing.

Many of us may feel the effect but not fully understand the cause. There has been a tendency in our society to not talk about our struggles yet ….” healing starts the moment we are heard!”

So the vision of Kintsugi Hope is to provide a place where people can experience :

  • Safety and support where there is no shame and embarrassment in struggling
  • An increase in self worth, confidence and wellbeing
  • A deeper understanding of the reality of Gods love for them.
  • Clear pathways to receive additional support if needed

What it’s not….

It is not therapy – there are no leaders or experts.

For this reason it would not be suitable for those with a more serious diagnosed mental illness.

If you feel this might be for you and you’d like to find out more or would like to sign up for a group please email kintsugi@stmichaelsbristol.org

Comments from previous participants:

“ I looked and listened to others in the room who I presumed had their lives sorted and realised that it wasn’t just me , that I wasn’t alone in my struggles”

“ The materials and resources covered have provided me with a metaphorical tool box to refer to on difficult days”

“ I’ve learnt about myself, what God wants for me and that there’s a better way, a better life in Him, as He intended”

“ I wish there had been something like this years ago! I needn’t have struggled for so long in silence”

“ I’ve realised ‘it’s OK not to be OK’ and that this was the first step to me acknowledging where I was at, having the desire to make changes, seek further and move forwards”

“The Kintsugi Hope Group allowed me to be honest with myself amongst a group of people where there was no judgement and who I could trust. It helped me to understand myself in a  better way”

One final comment …. “ We HAVE to do this …it’s the heart of the gospel!”

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday

Sunday 9 November is Remembrance Sunday

Our ten-thirty will begin outside with everyone gathering around the war memorial on The Green at 10.30am.  If you are worshipping at the 8.45am, why not stay for coffee and then attend the act of Remembrance?

We will be joined by the Royal British Legion, and local Uniformed Groups. A short act of Remembrance will take place, with the laying of wreaths and 2 minutes silence.

After this everyone else will gather in the auditorium in St Michael’s Centre, from there, our young people will go to their groups in the usual places.  Our live-streamed online service will begin at approximately 10.45am.

Giving… what is its purpose? What can it accomplish? More than finances, giving is an act of worship — an expression of love for Jesus and His Kingdom.

Through giving, we reach our community.
Through giving, we spread the gospel and expand His Kingdom.
Through giving, we fight the darkness, feed the hungry, clothe those in need, embrace the lost, and help heal the broken

Giving is not just support for ministry — it is worship. It is recognising the One who gave everything, even His very life.

This October, we invite you to join in with giving.

Whether it’s a one-off gift, increasing your giving by inflation, or beginning regular monthly giving, your generosity will help our church:

  • Resource all we do together in mission (with God’s help).
  • Deepen our worship as we give back to Jesus.
  • Equip us to reach more people with the love of Christ.

With hearts full of joy, let us show our love and proclaim His praises through giving.

WhatsApp Community

WhatsApp Community

We now have a WhatsApp Community where announcement messages are sent out with news of what is coming up You can then also join other groups within the church family. You can request to join the WhatsApp Community by emailing the office.

We have recently moved over to using a WhatsApp Community at St Michael’s. If you want to know more, this page should have all the information you need.

What is it?

WhatsApp Communities allows us to keep multiple church groups all in one space. It helps us to keep things more organised and allow for better communication.

Why have we decided to do this?

It makes it much easier for people with all St Michael’s groups under one umbrella. By having a separate Announcements page, it means they don’t get lost within the conversations and is an additional way for us to communicate alongside existing means such as the weekly email.

Is my personal information protected?

Your contact information is only shared with those in the same groups as you, which is the same as all other WhatsApp groups. In addition, your phone number can be seen by the overall community admin – St Michael’s Church.

Do I need to do anything?

To join the St Michael’s WhatsApp Community, and receive updates on the Announcements group, follow the link here.

Most of our existing WhatsApp groups have already been moved to the Community, andif you are in one of those groups then you will automatically see the Announcements group.

How do I join other groups?

You simply click on the group and request to join it. An admin of that group then can accept or reject your request with the option to message you directly if they don’t already know you.

Can I leave?

Yes. However, if you choose to leave the Announcements group then it will automatically take you out of all the other groups as well. We will try not to use it too much and you can always choose to mute just the announcement group if you want to.

Our WhatsApp code of conduct can be downloaded here
