Remembrance Sunday

Sunday 9 November is Remembrance Sunday

Our ten-thirty will begin outside with everyone gathering around the war memorial on The Green at 10.30am.  If you are worshipping at the 8.45am, why not stay for coffee and then attend the act of Remembrance?

We will be joined by the Royal British Legion, and local Uniformed Groups. A short act of Remembrance will take place, with the laying of wreaths and 2 minutes silence.

After this everyone else will gather in the auditorium in St Michael’s Centre, from there, our young people will go to their groups in the usual places.  Our live-streamed online service will begin at approximately 10.45am.

Giving… what is its purpose? What can it accomplish? More than finances, giving is an act of worship — an expression of love for Jesus and His Kingdom.

Through giving, we reach our community.
Through giving, we spread the gospel and expand His Kingdom.
Through giving, we fight the darkness, feed the hungry, clothe those in need, embrace the lost, and help heal the broken

Giving is not just support for ministry — it is worship. It is recognising the One who gave everything, even His very life.

This October, we invite you to join in with giving.

Whether it’s a one-off gift, increasing your giving by inflation, or beginning regular monthly giving, your generosity will help our church:

  • Resource all we do together in mission (with God’s help).
  • Deepen our worship as we give back to Jesus.
  • Equip us to reach more people with the love of Christ.

With hearts full of joy, let us show our love and proclaim His praises through giving.

Welcome Lunch

Are you new to St Michael’s, or joined us within the last 6 months or so?
If so, please join us for a Welcome Lunch at 12.30pm on Sunday 12 October in St Michael’s Centre.
It’s a great chance for us to get to know one another over a meal, and to find out a bit more about what goes on at St Michael’s.

Click here to sign-up to say you’re coming along, or fill in the form below.

Harvest 2025

Each year when we celebrate Harvest, we collect non-perishable food items to donate to the local foodbank.

We are celebrating Harvest on Sunday 5 October this year, so please bring along non-perishable, in-date food items. The most-needed items are listed below.

You may also wish to consider donating directly to North Bristol Foodbank either financially or items that are needed. On this link you can purchase specific items that go directly to the foodbank

Clothes Swap

On Saturday 27 September, we are holding a Clothes Swap 10am – 12pm in the Lower Hall in St Michael’s Centre.

What is a Clothes Swap?

It is described as “where people gather to exchange clothing that they no longer wear.  This helps in responsibly rehoming clothes that no longer have value to you but could be just the right thing for someone else’s wardrobe. In a world thriving on overproduction of clothes, a clothes swap is a way to extend the lifetime of the clothing we already own, and making our wardrobes more economic”.

For this event, please bring up to 10 items to swap and update your wardrobe!  Men’s, women’s or child’s clothes, shoes or accessories that are of good quality, clean, dry, and wearable (no underwear please)
When you bring some clothes, you will be given a token to us to “buy” items that other people have brought along!

Praying for upcoming Moldova Mission Trip

This September, a small team from St. Michael’s will be heading to Moldova to serve alongside our mission partners, Ruslan and Larisa. For some of the group, it will be their very first trip, and together they’ll be stepping into opportunities to love, listen, and share Christ with the people of Gotesti and Tiganca village. As they join church activities, visit families, and encourage the local community, your prayers can make a real difference. Please use the prayer guide below to walk with them in spirit and lift up both the team and the people they will meet.

WhatsApp Community

We now have a WhatsApp Community where announcement messages are sent out with news of what is coming up You can then also join other groups within the church family. You can request to join the WhatsApp Community by emailing the office.

We have recently moved over to using a WhatsApp Community at St Michael’s. If you want to know more, this page should have all the information you need.

What is it?

WhatsApp Communities allows us to keep multiple church groups all in one space. It helps us to keep things more organised and allow for better communication.

Why have we decided to do this?

It makes it much easier for people with all St Michael’s groups under one umbrella. By having a separate Announcements page, it means they don’t get lost within the conversations and is an additional way for us to communicate alongside existing means such as the weekly email.

Is my personal information protected?

Your contact information is only shared with those in the same groups as you, which is the same as all other WhatsApp groups. In addition, your phone number can be seen by the overall community admin – St Michael’s Church.

Do I need to do anything?

To join the St Michael’s WhatsApp Community, and receive updates on the Announcements group, follow the link here.

Most of our existing WhatsApp groups have already been moved to the Community, andif you are in one of those groups then you will automatically see the Announcements group.

How do I join other groups?

You simply click on the group and request to join it. An admin of that group then can accept or reject your request with the option to message you directly if they don’t already know you.

Can I leave?

Yes. However, if you choose to leave the Announcements group then it will automatically take you out of all the other groups as well. We will try not to use it too much and you can always choose to mute just the announcement group if you want to.

Tech & Worship Team Social & Training Night

Whether you run audio, visuals, sing, or play an instrument (yes, even drums!), we’d love for you to join us at our upcoming social and training session.

The Tech Team has been doing these for a while, and now we’d love to open it up to everyone involved in the various worship bands.

What to Expect:

  • A relaxed and friendly evening to connect, learn, and have fun.
  • A quick time of prayer and worship to start.
  • A short update on recent changes to the auditorium systems.
  • A chat about what’s going well, any challenges, and ideas for how we can keep growing together in worship.
  • A guided trip over to the historic church to see how things work there.
  • Good food (probably hot dogs, burgers, pizza, crisps & dip, etc.) — and feel free to bring your own alcoholic drink if you’d like.
  • Plenty of time to hang out, play with instruments, experiment with FX, mixing desks, moving lights, and anything else we don’t normally get time to explore before a service.

It’ll be a great chance to build community, share ideas, and just enjoy being together. Hope you can make it!

We’d also love you to come if you are interested in serving on the tech team!

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Everyone is welcome to join in with an online prayer meeting for the persecuted church. It’s on Zoom on Monday 23 June at 7.30pm, for about an hour.

We use the video resources available from Open Doors and pray through the countries featured, where Christians need our encouragement as they face opposition, isolation and difficulties of many kinds – it would be great if you could join us!

St Michael’s Church Centre – 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

Back in April 2015, St Michael’s Church Centre opened its doors for the first time, welcoming the congregation into the building.
Since then, we’ve welcomed a variety of people for services, community and Christian events as well as corporate and charity meetings.

Over the past ten years we have added to the impressive facilities with additional seminar rooms, tiered seating, upgraded AV equipment and more.

On Saturday 14 June 2025 at 5pm, we are holding a celebration to mark our 10 year anniversary. We will be starting the celebration in the Auditorium where we will reflect with gratitude on the work that has gone into the Centre before, during and after it was completed.

We will then conclude with food and drink, and an opportunity to tour the building where there will be displays of past and current work.  There will also be a chance to meet and connect with past and current members of the congregation, staff team, trustees, contractors and more.
